LeeAnn Susan Robinson

October 9, 1935 — September 9, 2024

Calgary, Alberta

LeeAnn Robinson passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024 at the age of 88 years.

LeeAnn was born and Bentley, Alberta, then spent some younger years in Eckville, Alberta. She moved to Calgary where she lived on the commercial block downtown. They were poor and lived through tough times; all part of what made her who she was. A take charge, tell you what she thinks, no holds barred, kind of independent woman! She had a very special group of friends that she grew up with on the commercial block, and they remained friends for decades; they were like family.

She loved being a hairdresser for her whole working life. She taught at Marvel School where she enjoyed mentoring many on how to become a great hairdresser. She love to travel in her younger years and took some pretty amazing trips to Hawaii, Mexico, Rome and Italy. Also, a few epic trips with the whole family, later in life, to Las Vegas.

She loved to drive to the mountains - It was a calling she would hear and she would go to meet the mountains every chance she had. LeeAnn lived by the mantra of "I’m in a hurry and don’t know why" taken from the Alabama song. She drove with a heavy foot and was never late getting anywhere. She always wanted things done yesterday! We spent more time on the TransCanada Highway than anyone else we knew. She loved to just pick up and be gone on a road trip hustling everybody to get in for the ride. When she lived in Saskatoon for a short time she missed the mountains every day. Her son, Carson, continued to take her on trips to Banff so she could be in her favourite place as much as possible.

Animals were a prominent part of her life. She had a beloved horse named Holly, but she loved cats the most - oh how she loved her cats!! LeeAnn loved a good party, with Rum and Coke and the clang-clang of the ice cubes, we can still hear her saying: "Mix me another one"! She was a nighthawk who was always the first to arrive at family gatherings and the last to leave. She treasured her time with all her loved ones. Even at the last dinner with the family, she was giving the grandkids a hard time about something - for fun.

When LeeAnn began to develop dementia, she moved into Prince of Peace harbour. It was a wonderful home for her and she enjoyed being there. She had a new friend and a dinner partner, Melvin. She loved having him draw pictures for her, and he never forgot to pick her up for every meal. Even in her final moments she said: "I will miss my Melvin". She had a short fight with cancer; but true to form her body fought hard for her. Her strength and resilience amazed all the staff at Rosedale. We are extremely grateful for the excellent care and compassion shown to LeeAnn and to our family from all the staff at Rosedale Hospice. They are the most amazing people. All of them!!! We are so thankful we had them take care of our mom❤️

LeeAnn will be lovingly remembered by her children, Ron (Lori) of Swan River; Karen (Glen) of Sherwood Park, Carson of Calgary, and Jodie (T.J.) of Calgary; 7 grandchildren, Jason, Jared (Anne), Chris (Alana), Thomas "Seth" (Marc), Courtney (Darcy), Kieron (Amanda), and Theron; 6 great-grandchildren; friends, Donna and Alex of Calgary (who were as close as family to us), many extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Gloria "Victoria"; parents, Hank and Ann; siblings, Elva, Pommy, Elmer.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024. For Further details, please contact a family member.
