It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lance Craig Krobel on June 27, 2026, at the age of 69.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on January 5, 1957, Lance spent most of his childhood growing up in Summerland, British Columbia, before eventually making Calgary, Alberta his home, where he built a life with his beloved wife, Michelle. Together they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family.
Lance began his career in telecommunications before pursuing his entrepreneurial spirit as a bed business owner. A skilled carpenter with ability to build and create, he took great pride in working with his hands and helping others. As a passionate advocate for the cancer community, Lance devoted many years as a volunteer driver for the Cancer Patient Driving Program, ensuring countless individuals could access the care they needed.
Lance embraced life with enthusiasm and curiosity. Whether he was playing his guitar on the church stage, exploring mountain trails, gazing at the stars, or enjoying the peace of the outdoors while hiking or camping, he found joy in life’s many simple pleasures.
He had a quick, sarcastic wit that could make you laugh and, especially in later years, wasn’t afraid to let you know exactly what he thought. Beneath his occasionally gruff exterior was a deeply caring man whose kindness was often shown more through his actions than his words. His love for his family was unwavering throughout his life.
Lance was a devoted father and is lovingly remembered by his children, Michael (Shaylah), Jennifer (Raymond), April (Blake), and Darryl (Elena); his eleven cherished grandchildren; his two great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Mary Lou and Cindy. He was predeceased by his wife, Michelle Krobel, as well as his parents.
Lance will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his generosity, his laughter, and his unwavering loyalty. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the memories he left, and the example he set of living life of principle, humor, and heart.
Though he is no longer with us, our memories of him will continue to be found in the mountains he loved, beneath the stars he admired, and in every classic guitar riff he strummed. He will remain forever in our hearts.
