GORDON, Kirkland “Kirk” James August 11, 1953 June 2, 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father Kirkland James Gordon “Kirk” born on August 11, 1953 in St. Ann, Jamaica. Aware of the loving presence of his family, he passed away peacefully at home in Calgary on Saturday, June 02, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. Kirk is survived by his loving wife Jennifer; son O’neil; daughters Mary-Ann, Teddi, and Bailey; granddaughter Nevaya; eight sisters; two brothers; numerous nieces and nephews; and many more family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Beryl and James Gordon, and sister, Sylvia. To each relationship, Kirk was a source of unconditional love and wisdom. Kirk was a dedicated employee of Cargill Foods for twenty years, where he gained overwhelming respect, trust and friendship from many of his colleagues. Kirk’s positive spirit, quick wit, honesty and sense of humour will be missed by all who knew him. As a family, we wish to thank the doctors and nursing staff at The Tom Baker Cancer Centre and Unit 47 at the Foothills Hospital for their devoted care and support. A Visitation will be for Kirk held at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel, 4121 17 Avenue SE, on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 7:00 9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Kirk’s life will take place at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, East Stake Centre, 7017 California Blvd NE, on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00 am with interment to follow at Rockyview Garden of Peace Cemetery.
