Kevin Michael Conlon

November 5, 1966 — February 16, 2023

It is with profound sadness that the family of Kevin Michael Conlon announce the peaceful passing of a beloved spouse, brother and friend. He was surrounded by love and friendship.

Predeceased by parents Valentine Marie Conlon (Kapush) in 1987 and Don Lewis Conlon in 2021, Kevin will be sadly and forever missed by his devoted spouse Carmel Andrews; brother Kelly Conlon (Laurie); Aunt Patricia Bisson, Uncle Allan and Aunt Evelyn Conlon and many dear cousins and extended family and friends in Winnipeg, Kenora and Thunder Bay. He will be especially missed by his constant companion, shadow and furry loyal friend Baxter. They had a special bond and went everywhere together. Some of Kevin’s happiest times were at the off leash dog beach throwing the frisbee with his “little guy”.

While Kevin always kept Winnipeg and the Jets in his heart, he moved to Calgary in 2000 where he quickly developed a love for the mountains. He was a natural athlete and soon became and accomplished skier and an annual participant in the Melissa’s Road Race.

Kevin’s greatest accomplishment was being a civil engineer. He knew from a young age this was his calling. He wore his iron ring with pride and it was a tangible reminder of the moral obligation to live by a high standard of ethical and professional conduct. Kevin embraced this obligation as a commitment to public safety and to welcome and support young engineers in the beginning of their career. He championed this role and was a mentor to many.

Kevin enjoyed a fulfilling career over the years with Bird Construction, PCL, ITC, Graham Construction, FRAM Construction and GBS Development Group. He became well respected in the construction industry and developed many lifelong friends along the way.

Kevin was a private, quiet and stoic man. Those fortunate enough to know him knew his generous heart and that he always kept a dog treat in his pocket.

Many thanks to Dr. John Fralick and the staff of Unit 36 at the Foothills Medical Centre. Kevin was especially grateful for the friendship and care of Dr. Omar Khan who treated Kevin as a partner in his care and was with him in his journey.

Cremation has taken place and Kevin will be interred with family in Winnipeg at a later date. There will be an open house to celebrate and remember Kevin. Friends are invited to gather for an informal celebration at the Calgary Golf and Country Club, 919 50th Ave SW, Calgary, AB. on Saturday March 4th from 1-4 pm. The club requests no jeans please.

Should anyone choose, donations may be made in Kevin’s name to the
