Kelly Swerid passed away in the hospital at the age of 60.
Kelly will be greatly missed by his wife Gail; his three children Samantha, Matthew and Sarah and their families. Samantha is married to Tyler Jacobson and has three children Scott David, Lukas Kelly and Rosalie Mae. They live in Draper, Utah. Sarah is with Will Rawleigh and they have two dogs Kili and Quill, and live in Scarborough, Ontario. Matthew has 1 dog Arrow and lives in Calgary. Kelly is also survived by his two brothers and sisters-in-law Larry and Judy Swerid, and Ricky and Cathy Swerid; his aunt Rae Falcon, who helped raised Kelly after his mom passed away at age 7. Kelly is also survived by Gail’s siblings Jacqueline Knight, Sandra Smith (Rick), Gary Knight (Lynn) and Ronald Knight (Brenda); and many other relatives and friends.
As a young man, Kelly attended SAIT in Calgary and obtained his Power Engineering Diploma and a Diploma in Technology Energy Management. He was proud to have completed energy management audits on a variety of buildings and was involved with an alternative energy source project at the end of his life. Over the years, he worked at many things including as an Engineering Technologist, Energy Management Consultant, and Project Manager. For a couple of years, he was involved in sales of boiler equipment and had the adventure of traveling to Mongolia to participate in their installations. In the last few years, he ran a water company and worked in pre-form sales. Kelly was diagnosed with stage 4 renal cancer on June 28, 2020 and lost the battle against the cancer on April 12, 2021 when he passed away in the hospital. The family is very grateful for all the support that they have received.
Kelly will be remembered for his big smile, genuine happy personality, unconditional love of others, and unwavering faith in God.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 29 at 2:00 pm which will be private in person attendance, but live streamed to extended family and friends at
