Kelly George Bates

On Saturday, October 14, 2023 Mr. Kelly George Bates, beloved husband of Alma Niro Bates of Calgary, Alberta passed away at the age of 57 years.
Kelly was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He was a truck driver for over 30 years. Driving the highways was one of his passions. Kelly adored children, particularly his nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. He loved to tell them stories, and play jokes on them all the time. Kelly had a love for sasquatches, hot rods, and racecars. He adored his dog Tia. Kelly had absolute respect and love for big dogs. He always kept a place in his heart for helping those in need and always had something to give, even if there was nothing left for himself.
Besides his loving wife, Alma, Kelly is also survived by his parents Shirley and Ernest Bates; siblings Robert Bates of Claresholm, Alberta, Glenda Duggan of Powell River, British Columbia, and Mary Jean Hill of Lethbridge, Alberta.
Kelly was predeceased by his father Glen Bates, and brothers John Leighland Bates, and James Bates.
A Funeral Service will be held for Kelly at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – 44th Street Chapel (833 – 44 Street SE, Calgary) on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will take place at Foothills Crematorium.
If one so desires, memorial donations may be made in Kelly’s name to the Alberta Cancer Foundation (donations office for Tom Baker Cancer Centre), 1331 – 29 Street NW, Calgary, AB T2N 4N2.
