Karen Golightly passed away on September 8, 2023 at the age of 53 years.
Karen is survived by four children: Brady Golightly (Amanda Desforge), Justin Kaul (Alex Sura), Danine Kaul (Peter Wink) and Erik Kaul; two grandchildren Kaiya and Alexander; her parents Ella and Roy Golightly of Cardston, AB; Her siblings Melodie Willems (Adam) of Champion, Darcy Lowhorn of Calgary, and Al Olsen (Nathan Olsen) of Edmonton; many nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.
Karen lived life to the fullest, with a high energy approach to everything she did. She had a bubbly personality that left an impression on everyone she met, even if it was just once. A mother, a friend, a daughter, a sister… whoever she was to someone, she would do what she could to help each of them all the same. She loved her crafts, usually knitting and crocheting, as well as music. She sang in the church choir for many years and for the last 5 years she sang with Cool Choir, where she was able to make new friends, reconnect with old ones and let her beautiful voice be heard. Now Karen sings with a choir of angels. She will be missed.
A Funeral Service will be held for Karen at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2021 – 17 Avenue SW on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 7:00 pm. Cremation at Foothills Crematorium.

So sad to hear this news. Karen was a neighbour a few doors down from us and we would chat the odd time we were out front, always a pleasure to catch up. Such a sweet & caring person & always kind to my boys.
Our thoughts are with all of you who lost her so suddenly.
I can truly relate as my mother in law passed away suddenly and in hospital this past July. Very huge loss for those left behind.
Big hugs.

Karen and her family have been nothing but great to my mother, brother and myself over the 22 years we’ve known them. She babysat myself when I was I kid. I jokingly referred to her as my “fake mama” which always made her laugh. She was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed

To the family of Karen.
I met Karen at Cool Choir. It was her name, Golightly, that first drew me to her. We shared a smile over ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ and Holly Golightly. From then on we always talked and shared the music of our choir. So so sorry for your loss. The many Memories are now treasures to be held in your hearts.
Sandra Martini. Cool Choir.

Not everyone has the good fortune to meet someone who immediately lifts them up, exudes goodness and light and creates an amazing and lasting impression of joy. I am so grateful that I was amongst the many to meet and embrace the gift of knowing Karen Golightly. She brought sunshine into every rehearsal and performance. My sincere condolences to Karen’s family and friends. She spoke of you all with such great pride and love and every photo reflected that. You will be greatly missed lovely lady.

To the family of Karen Golightly, your mom was a wonderful woman who left behind her beloved children and grandchildren whom she not only was very proud of, but loved deeply. Karen had a real affinity to care deeply for her family, friends and colleagues which was felt by all who knew Karen. One in a million and we will all miss Karen’s genuine warmth and positive energy. Continue to sing where you now reside and look after your family from afar. RIP.

I will miss her funny jokes. We would laugh together about them at church after her postings on social media. She knew how to make people smile and I will miss her.

I’ve known Karen since the 10th Ward days in the 1980’s. She was so bubbly, always ready with a smile and a warm greeting. Such a lovely, lovely person. I loved running into her occasionaly at the church and catching up. She will be missed! My heartfelt condolenses to her beloved children and family.

My heart aches for Karen’s family and friends, she is gone too soon.
I worked with Karen for several years; she had a heart of gold! I remember her laugh and her love of all things Celtic. She was always ready to be of service, whether it was guiding new hires on their first day(s) of work, knitting/crocheting to donate to a worthy cause, leading the company’s Corporate Challenge Spirit Squad (often with at least one of her children, we have fond memories of our mascot!); we could count on Karen when a call for volunteers went out!
Rest in peace, Karen, your work here is done.

Karen’s bright and bubbly personality and truly empathetic nature will be sorely missed. Karen was fun and funny but never mean and would drop everything to lend a hand when needed. Every member of Cool Choir will miss her but we know she will be singing the high notes from heaven. Rest in peace dear lady.
