It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kaliopee 'Kelly' Pitaoulis-Lee. Kelly passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Kelly is survived by her husband and best friend, Chris; her mother, Mary and stepfather, Joost; sisters, Chrissy, Debbie (Tio) & Tammy (Marcel); nieces, Minelle (Doug), Annalisse, Juliana, Kennedy, Cassandra, Kaitlyn, Arianna and nephew, Jayden; her greatest joys of the last year, her great-niece, Rosemary, great-niece, Anna, great-nephew, Theo; and aunts, uncles & cousins. She is predeceased by her father, Art Pitaoulis; her YiaYia Kaliopee; and her grandparents, Frank & Rita Satink.
Kelly had a wonderful sense of humour and was quite witty. Her smile could light up a room. Her love of nature led her to sign up for the Hinton Forestry and Conservation Program. The summer prior to the start of the program, Kelly was in Greece with her father and sister, Chrissy. Unfortunately, she fell ill during that time and was not able to pursue the conservation program.
Kelly was fulfilled by the simpler things in life. She was most happy exploring the forest near her mother's home in Nakusp. She loved picking mushrooms and spent many hours with Chris, Debbie and Tio driving through the highways of BC looking for bears. Kelly loved hummingbirds - the beauty and freedom they represented. She always wished her loved ones to find comfort in the presence of hummingbirds.
Kelly was compassionate and kind - someone who gave everyone a voice. She always found the positive and people and situations. She was an inspiration to all those around her. She was strong all throughout her lifelong illness.
Kelly spent her days with her best friend & husband, Chris. They loved going to the hot pools in BC and watching the hummingbirds at the feeders they had there. Chris was Kelly's rock as he stood by her through all the good times and difficult times of her illness. They had a true love that was like a fairytale. Kelly also loved spending time with her sister, Chrissy and her nieces. She loved creating resin projects with her mom and paint pouring. Her mom loved her Toysie and all the wonderful things about her.
Kelly will be missed by all her family and friends. She will always be the Chips Ahoy cookie that never crumbles.
A special thanks to Dr. Emery, Kelly's family doctor, for his care, respect and humour over 27 years. Kelly and Chris loved him .
