John Theron Martz

John Theron Martz passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 65 years.

Born in Hamilton, Ontario, he spent the majority of his life in and around Calgary, Alberta, where he built his life, pursued his passions, and left his mark on the people fortunate enough to know him.

A hardworking man, he graduated from high school before continuing his education at Bow Valley College, earning a diploma as a Medical Administrative Assistant. But he was never one to shy away from hard work or follow just one path. He went on to establish and operate his own carpet installation business, Martz Installation, earning a living through dedication, determination, and the pride he took in his work. He was also the name behind Martz Entertainment, a reflection of his real passion: music.

A natural entertainer and talented musician, he performed as the lead musician in several bands and became famously known as “Jumping Johnny.” Whether singing, playing, or commanding the stage, he had a love for entertaining others. He found enjoyment in the simple things, too, including a good game of pool and keeping his truck spotless.

Above all, he will be remembered as an amazing son, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He held an important place in the lives of those who loved him, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Remembered for his hard work, his talent, and his unmistakable spirit, Jumping Johnny leaves behind a legacy that will never truly fade.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Corey Martz (Crystal Wilson); daughter, Amanda Reaburn-Martz; grandchildren Jamie Lavigne, Joshua Martz, Skylar Halstead, Odin Agarand; sister, Tamara Martz. He was predeceased by his mother; father, Ronald; sister, Rhonda; brothers, Kenneth and Robert.
