John Lawrence Taylor

On Wednesday, January 11, 2023, Mr. John Lawrence Taylor, beloved husband of Jennifer Taylor of Calgary, Alberta passed away at the age of 77 years.

John was born on April 24, 1945 in Toronto, York County, Ontario to Dorothy and William Taylor. He loved working in the insurance industry, from the mail room to underwriter. John dedicated his life to the insurance industry and was devastated when he had to retire due to health issues. He liked playing bridge, loved his Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Besides his loving wife, Jennifer, John is also survived by his sons Adam (Thel) Taylor and their daughter Louise of Cochrane, Alberta, Mark Taylor of Edmonton, Alberta; daughter Jenny (Jeff) Ottenbreit and their children Timothy and Theo of Edmonton; step daughter Adelle MacKay (Christian Cameron) and her son Lachlan Gillett of Calgary; siblings Sue (John) Stoopnikoff, Peter Taylor; special family friend Sue Smith, mother of his children; special friend Ed Lamb, who was his faithful bridge partner; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Dorothy and William Taylor; and a brother William (Bill) Taylor.

A celebration of John’s life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, 1121-14 Avenue SW, Calgary.
