J. David Keam

January 7, 1972 — January 29, 2026

Canmore, Alberta

John “David” Keam, born January 7, 1972, in Regina, Saskatchewan, passed away on January 29, 2026, in Canmore, AB, leaving a deep sense of loss among all who knew and loved him.

David is survived by his daughter, Callie Keam, and his loving partner, Carol Anne Mackenzie. He is also remembered by his former spouse, Megan. He was predeceased by his parents, Patricia “Pat” Keam and John David Keam, and is survived by his two sisters, Jacquie and Jody.

David spent more than four decades in the hospitality industry, working tirelessly in restaurants and hotels across Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. He was proud of the many large projects he contributed to and the teams he supported along the way. His dedication, leadership, and genuine care for people shaped his career and earned him the respect of colleagues across the industry.

Outside of work, David cherished the times when he and Carol‑Anne were able to find the time to camp in Kananaskis Country, surrounded by the mountains he loved. David was happiest when he could make people laugh—whether that was on stage, in a meeting, or around a dinner table. In the last year of his life, he also fulfilled a longtime dream by stepping into the world of stand‑up comedy. He found joy, belonging, and inspiration in this community and embraced it wholeheartedly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honour him.

David will be remembered for his big personality, his humour, his strong opinions, his off‑colour jokes, and the deep love he had for those closest to him. He will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, Carol‑Anne and Callie kindly ask that you make a donation in his honour. One meaningful choice is YouCan Youth Services  in Edmonton.
