Johanna Banke (nee Weyzig)

Johanna Banke (nee Weyzig) passed away at the age of 90 years on May 18th, 2024, predeceased by her husband Walter weeks earlier.

Johanna was born in Indonesia in 1933, travelled to Holland, married and immigrated to Canada in 1967 at the age of 34 years with her young family settling eventually in Calgary, a city she loved.

She made friends easily, always had room for you at the dinner table and later in life became very savvy with social media and online communication allowing her to keep in touch with relatives and friends all over the world. She loved her home, her garden and all the birds & squirrels that called it home.

More than all, she deeply loved her family. Johanna will be greatly missed by her children Peggy, Arnold, Renee & Anthony, sons-in-law Patrick & Jim, grandchildren Elishah, Elizabeth, Kayleigh, Karli & Raymond, and great grandchildren Isabel, Isaiah & Kaden, as well as many family members and friends both in Canada and Holland. She was predeceased by her husband Walter and her two grandsons Elijah and Elias.

The family invites you to join them for Johanna’s Memorial Mass with reception to follow to be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 11:00AM at St.Anthony’s Parish (5340 4th St SW Calgary, AB) with Fr. Bill Corcoran presiding.
