Jocelyn “Joy” Nuestro

Jocelyn “Joy” Nuestro passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at the age of 60 years. Joy, as her name implies, brought joy to the world. Like Fa Mulan, one of the many beloved characters from her cherished collection of Disney tapes, she was the epitome of a warrior throughout her life. Nothing in this world compared to Joy’s empowered beauty. As a crowned winner of the Easter Beauty pageant in her adolescence in Hong Kong, she earnestly prides herself in telling this story to her daughters to remind them of how beautiful they are. She was the most kind-hearted, caring and generous soul that you could ever meet. Joy will forever be in our hearts.

Joy is survived by her husband, Avelino Nuestro; her daughters, Stephanie, Monica, and Katelyn Nuestro; as well as her three sisters in Canada alongside family in the Philippines.

Relatives and friends are invited to a time of Visitation at Pierson’s Funeral Service (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB) on Thursday, August 4, 2022 and Friday, August 5, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass for Joy will be celebrated at St Mark’s Catholic Church (5552 Madigan Drive NE, Calgary, AB, T2A 4P2) on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with a Public Visitation from 12:15 p.m. to 12:45 pm.

A Graveside Service will follow the Funeral Mass at Mountain View Cemetery (1605 100 St SE, Calgary, AB T1X 0L4) followed by a reception at Pierson’s Funeral Service (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB).
