It is with love and sadness that we share the passing of Jesse Bernard Lalonde on December 3rd, 2025 at 12:31pm. After many years of living with multiple serious health conditions, Jesse passed of natural causes at his daughter Lea Cheeseman's residence. He died in the loving presence of his son-in-law Spencer Peters and Spencer's mother Wendy Peters.
Jesse is predeceased by his mother Arta Louise and his youngest brother Michael Robert. He is survived by his father Bob and step-mother Betty; his younger siblings, Robert (Karen), Phillip (Giselle), Jeanne (Ernie), Pauline (Andy), Lawrence, and Lisa (Max); his adopted daughter Lea (Spencer); his cousins Lorna and Fred as well as countless other cousins, nieces and nephews, family, friends, and other loved ones.
Jesse was born and raised in the Blairemore/Beaver Mines area in Alberta. He shared fond memories of growing up on his family's humble homestead, including going fishing with his mother. In one of his retellings of his childhood, he described buying cigarettes for his mother asa small boy and sneaking some for himself. This would be the start of an enduring enjoyment of life's little vices. Jesse's career took many turns throughout his life. He became a red seal chef in the military and worked in the restaurant industry for over two decades. He had extensive experience as along-haul truck driver and adopted the "trucker mentality" as a key part of his identity. He worked in the moving industry for most of Lea's childhood until he relocated to Saskatchewan to manage a small hotel in the municipality of Lancer. After returning to Calgary, he took up part-time work in warehouses for as long as his health would allow. He spent his final years looking after his grand-dogs for Lea and Spencer. No matter what work he found himself doing, he took pride in what he did and found fulfillment in staying busy.
Jesse showed his love for others by providing for them. Those who knew and loved him could always count on him for a helping hand or a homecooked meal. He enjoyed playing crib, watching M*A*S*H, and reading (his favorite author being Terry Goodkind). Jesse was best known for his down-to-earth grit, his stubborn nature, his quiet generosity, and his sense of humor.
