Jimmy Obleman passed away September 7, 2011 at the Peter Lougheed Centre at the age of 92. He will be dearly missed by his wife Mary; their two daughters Shirley Stanton (Rod) and Marion Arbic (Doug); Four grandchildren Sherry Thorne (Pat), Michael Arbic (Deborah), Brian Arbic and Ronnie Arbic (Cheryl), all of Calgary; and three great grandchildren Carson and Leah Thorne and Marylynn Arbic. Jimmy is also survived his sister-in-law Anne Munro and her family and many nieces and nephews. Jimmy was the second youngest of 11 children born to the Obleman family in Wolseley, Saskatchewan. He left the farm to join the Army serving overseas during WWII. Jimmy moved to Calgary following the war where he eventually became a lowboy operator for the City of Calgary for the next 30 years. He had many interests including building almost anything with wood, hooking rugs and gardening. He was a talented fiddler and will be remembered as a wonderful husband and father.
