Irmtraud Opatril

Irmtraud (Traudi) Opatril passed away suddenly at the Mayfair Care Centre in Calgary on February 23, 2018 at the age of 92. Mom/Oma/Omi was born June 16, 1925 in Kerschdorf, Austria and immigrated to Calgary in 1951 with her family. She was very devoted to her family and friends. Anyone coming for a visit would arrive to a warm welcoming smile and delicious fresh baked cakes and cookies. Traudi was predeceased by her husband Frank and her son Gerald. She is survived by her son Frank (Sharon); her three granddaughters Carrie (Jason), Tara (Trevor), Amber (Rob); her great grandchildren Cage, Silver and Myla; her daughter in-law Anita; her brother Peter and sister Martina as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her last years were spent learning and experiencing new activities. Most recently she tried bowling for the first time on February 14th. Traudi delighted in winning at shuffle board on both the womens and mens teams. The family wishes to thank the caring staff and nurses at the Mayfair Care Centre. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2nd, 2018 at 10:30am. Please join us at Piersons Funeral Chapel, 4121 17 Avenue SE, Calgary.
