Hilda Grace Halpin

Halpin, Hilda Grace February 1, 1935 – January 26, 2015 Hilda Grace Halpin (nee Bermingham) passed away peacefully January 26, 2015 at Santurai Hospice-Unit 42 PLC in Calgary at the age of 79 years. Born February 1, 1935 in Verdun, Montreal, Quebec. A city girl ay heart, Hilda met Grant and they married in 1957, and together they raised four children; Matthew (Nadine), Christopher, Valerie (Gordon Julin) and Laura (Ron Grover). She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren dearly (Ashleigh, Jared, Kate, Sarah, Sean and Amanda) and any babies that bounced her way. Hilda and Grant created and ran a number of successful Insurance businesses over the years, notably in Golden and Grand Forks B.C. She was a terrific homemaker and skilled at shorthand, gardening, piano playing and tennis. A talented knitter who produced 1st place socks at the fair. She loved thrift stores and the endless treasures to be found. She also leaves behind her 91-year young sister Jeannette and her invaluable friends and family. Hilda was predeceased by her husband Grant and son Christopher. For those wishing to pay their respects, a visitation will be held at Pierson’s Funeral Service (4121 – 17 Avenue S.E.), on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 – 14 St.SW) at 2:00 pm. Burial to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
