Heriberto Benicio Leiva

In loving memory of Heriberto Leiva, who passed away on December 19, 2023, at the age of 75. Heriberto is survived by his devoted wife, Emelina Leiva, and their cherished children Claudia, Juana, and Ricardo Leiva. His legacy lives on through his 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. 

Born on August 23, 1948, in Fresia, Chile, Heriberto grew up on the family farm. In 1962, he met his beloved wife Emelina while working as a milk deliveryman. After 5 years of courtship, they married on June 10, 1967, building a beautiful family together. Heriberto's roots in Chile led to a new chapter in Canada, where he arrived in Regina on May 21, 1978, with his family, staying for 12 years before settling in Calgary, AB. 

A diligent provider, Heriberto had a passion for construction and working with his hands. His zest for life included a love for dancing, folk music, shopping, and savoring delicious food. A reliable source of support, he was a tough, strong, and loving presence as a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. 

Heriberto will be remembered for his hard work, protective nature, and his ability to bring joy and laughter to his family, especially his grandchildren. His enduring spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten. 

A Funeral Service will be held at Pierson's Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 3:00 pm, followed by a light reception at the Chilean Association (4774 Westwinds Dr NE #519, Calgary, AB T3J 0L7) at 5:30 pm.
