Helga Szautner passed away at Rosedale hospice on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the age of 85 years. She will be lovingly rememberd by her children Marlene (Ted) Rohling and Brian (Shelley) Szautner; grandchildren, Trevor (Stephanie) Rohling, Nancy Rohling, Logan Szautner and Megan Szautner; nephews Uwe (Elke) Dobrunz and Peter Dobrunz both of Germany. Helga was born and raised in Germany. At the age of 26 years, she immigrated to Canada. She first started in Winnipeg where she met and married the love of her life Val. They then moved to Calgary which has been her home ever since. Throughout Helga’s life, she worked as a teacher, seamstress, sales clerk and many more other occupations. Helga’s family would like to say a special thank you to all of the staff and volunteers at Rosedale Hospice, especially, Brenda, Alison, Heather, Hermena, Lisa, Catherine and Yuki, for all of the loving care they showed mom. A Visitation will be held for Helga at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel, 4121 17 Avenue SE, on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 6:00 8:00 p.m. Interment of Cremated remains will take place at Mountain View Memorial Gardens on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Rosedale Hospice, 920 7A Street NW, Calgary, AB T2M 3J3.
