Hans Peter Neufeld

NEUFELD, Hans Peter August 15, 1935 June 23, 2013 Peter “Opa” passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the age of 77 years. Peter was born in Rckenau, Danzig and immigrated to Canada in 1960. He landed in Montreal and took a train to Calgary where family and friends awaited his arrival. Being an ambitious young man, Peter worked as a butcher at Canada Safeway for 30 years until his retirement in 1993. Peter loved Mazatlan, Mexico and travelled there for many trips. He was a kind, loving father who enjoyed the company of his son, John (Stacy); and his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Thomas and Julianna. He is also survived by his two brothers, Horst (Alma) and Ulli (Evelyn); and sister, Irmi (Peter) Buchholz of Germany. He was predeceased by his wife, Renate on November 22, 1992; and companion, Lotte Huehold in 2001. For the last 12 years, Peter had a loving companion, Edna Mae Smith.
