Hamilton, Leighton George

Leighton George Hamilton passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at the age of 72 years. Leighton was born in St. Catherine, Jamaica and shared his time between Kingston, Jamaica; Airdrie, Alberta, and Brooklyn, N.Y.

Leighton was committed, dedicated, and married to his first and only love, Jeanette for 49 years. He provided for his family and modeled what it meant to be a godly husband and father. Leighton loved to build and encourage people; believing and hoping in their potentials in spite of the odds. He demonstrated this as he served as an inspirational leader for over 50 years. He served as Youth leader, Evangelist, Pastor, Overseer and Bishop. There was never a dull moment with Leighton, as he would enjoy telling stories and giving jokes. His pearly white smile was contagious.

Leighton is survived by his spouse, Jeanette; biological and “adopted” children, Marsha, Oneil, Suzette, Anneke, Sheldon, Deidre; grandchildren, Abigail, Gabrielle, O’niyah, Jayshaw, O’Neil Jr., Daneillia, Daniel, David, Morenike, Ugochi, Joelle, Izuchi; sisters, Mernel and Marcia. His work in the army of Christ has produced a legacy of many spiritual children, too countless to mention.

A Funeral Service will be held for Leighton at Pierson’s Funeral Service (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. A Public Visitation will be held before and after for Leighton at Pierson’s Funeral Service (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. – 6:50 p.m. and 8:30-9pm.
