Halton Oliver Reid

Halton Oliver Reid was born on August 14, 1935, in Falmouth, Jamaica, to his parents, Augustos Reid and Dorkus Henry. One of six children, he enjoyed a happy childhood filled with playing cricket and dominoes. 

In his twenties, Halton made the decision to join the police force in Kingston, Jamaica. He proudly served as a police officer for 20 years. He enjoyed fulfilling his duties as a motorcycle officer. 

After coming to Canada in his late forties, Halton held several different positions, including working in custodial services at the Calgary Jewish Centre, a welder at Foothills Steel Foundry, and his most recent employment as a taxi driver. While he approached each role with dedication, the jobs he valued most were being a husband, father, and grandfather.

Halton had many interests and talents. He enjoyed making and repairing shoes, writing poetry, and drawing. He was a proud and dignified man with strong morals, values, principles, and a logical way of looking at life. Strong-willed and fiercely independent, Halton remained true to himself and the beliefs he held dear.

Halton will be remembered for his strength of character, his independence, his talents, and the deep value he placed on family.
