Guy Fernand Portelance

We are so deeply saddened with the sudden passing of our beloved husband and father, Guy, at the young age of 67. He was survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Micheline, his 4 daughters: Suzanne Thurlow (Aron), Christine Patenaude (Luke), Diane Azzam (Walid) and Alexandra Portelance, 12 grandchildren: Megan, Julie, Matthew, Joshua, Samuel, Logan, Brandon, Gavin, Liam, Nikolas, Kaelyn and Joseph. He will also be missed by his 4 brothers: Jean-Claude (Beth), Gilbert, Marc, and Philippe (Sue); his mother-in-law, Annette Cormier and numerous extended family members and friends. Guy was predeceased by his parents Rodolphe and Rachelle (Despins) and his two brothers Richard and Bernard. Guy was a devout Catholic, born and raised in Calgary and proud to be a Queen Scout. He loved camping, traveling, history, playing the guitar and making everyone laugh playing charades. His family was so dear to him. He was 5 months shy of celebrating his 50th anniversary at Canada Safeway where his conscientious, attentive and amiable nature made him an indispensible and well-liked colleague. He was generous to a fault and had a quirky sense of humor which often left him with his foot in his mouth! Guy was an easy conversationalist and made everyone he encountered feel special. Guy was truly loved by all for his warmth and kindness and will be desperately missed and forever cherished.
