Grant Charles Sabey

December 13, 1928 — February 15, 2017

We mourn the passing of Dr. Grant Charles Sabey, (age 88 years), a wonderful, kind, generous man who blessed the lives of many throughout his life, in his roles of healer, husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. His life was a life of selfless service, centred around his “beautiful wife”, Laurene, his family, church, friends, and dental patients. He lived to help and serve. He is survived by his wife, Laurene; his children – Craig (Marilyn) Sabey, Cynthia (Dan) Smith, Rick (Sandra) Sabey, Sandra(Steve) Wilkie, and Tracy Caldwell; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren all of whom adored him. His brother Ralph (Betty) Sabey and sister Erva (Jim) Sherwood and many nieces and nephews also survive him. His desire for success in all aspects of his life; his ability to work tirelessly to achieve all his goals; and his strength and courage were legendary and deeply admired. Grant was a true sports enthusiast with hunting, fishing, boxing, racquetball, and running bringing him much pleasure throughout his life. In fact, he ran 5 miles every day, except Sunday’s, for over 55 years. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has always guided Grant’s life, and has provided him with many opportunities to serve and bless others. We will honor this wonderful man at a funeral service held at the LDS Bow Valley Chapel @ the corner of Crowchild Tr. and 24 Ave. NW Calgary on Wednesday, February 22 at 10:00 am. A visitation will be held at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel 4121 -17 Ave. S.E. from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, February 21 for those wishing to offer condolences to the family. The family expresses deep appreciation and regard to Grant’s physicians Dr. Ken Cody, Dr. Alimohamed(and nurse Kathy), Dr. Raj Sharma, Dr. Evans, and all the staff at the Dulcina Hospice for their concern, kindness, and skill in mitigating his pain and suffering. Grant was truly beloved by all who knew him. The world has lost a beautiful soul, but the eternal realms have gained a “giant”!
