Gilbert Abraham Beisel

Gilbert Abraham Beisel passed away on Friday August 28, 2026 at the age of 92 years.

Gilbert was born in Morse, SK to Mary and David Beisel. He is survived by his sister Lila (Al) of Stoney Plain, AB. Gilbert was predeceased by his wife, Martha (nee Werenka) in 2025; and siblings Violet, Ernest, Harvey, and Lavina.

Gilbert and Martha called Calgary home, living in the Odgen area for more than 60 years.

For the past five years, he resided at Southwood Care Centre. For four of those years, he lived alongside his wife, Martha.  

He cared deeply for his family and was always willing to lend a hand and help others out. He also had a passion for racehorses, and he was proud of his well-kept yard and gardens.

Gilbert was particular about his appearance and preferred to always look his best, with well combed hair, and shaven face, and this held true right up until his passing.

Gilbert and Martha were taken under the wing of his niece Lila, her husband Jack, and their daughter Twyla for the past +40 years.

Intimate family graveside interment Friday, September 4, 2026 at 11:00am at Queen's Park Cemetery (3219 4 St NW, Calgary).
