Gerald Dell Ryan

It is with great sadness to announce that on Sunday, February 12, 2022, Gerald Dell Ryan of Athabasca, Alberta, beloved husband of the late Dorothy Mabel Ryan, passed away at the hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, at the age of 84 years.
Gerald was born on June 25, 1937, in Athabasca, Alberta, where he lived most of his life. His main occupation was a welder and mechanic. Gerald married Dorothy Finlay on December 24, 1969 in Lac la Biche, Alberta. After retirement, Dorothy and Gerald spent many winters camping on the desert in Yuma, Arizona. Shortly after retirement they moved to Medicine Hat and then back to Calgary. Dorothy and Gerald were inseparable, doing everything together. After Dorothy’s passing, Gerald moved to Athabasca. He loved to tinker around and competition shooting.
Gerald is survived by his children Lyle Donauer and his wife Roxanne of Calgary, Lauren Donauer of Calgary, Raymond Ryan of Smoky Lake, Alberta, Holly and her husband Larry Gale of Edmonton, Barney Ryan of Fort Simpson, Northwest Territories; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one sister Judy Edwards of Athabasca. He was predeceased by his parents Doreen and Archibald Ryan, and his brother Mel Ryan.
A private family service will be held in the summer. Gerald will be laid to rest by his wife Dorothy in the Athabasca Cemetery.
