On Wednesday, November 15, 2023 George Santino Bol of Calgary, Alberta passed away at the age of 29 years.
George was born in Khartoum, Sudan, and was raised in Calgary. He attended Holy Cross Elementary School, St.Mary’s High School, and attended college at Durham College. George’s interests include basketball, which he played through junior high school to the college level. He will always be known for his kind, caring, loving and selfless soul. George was welcoming to everyone, had many friends, and was loved by many. He was known as “Peacemaker”. George always carried a big brother energy to all his siblings, and took care of them, including his younger cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was extremely funny, making laughter without even trying. George brightened peoples’ day. He endured many trials and tribulations, but always overcame them, stayed strong and persevered. George could always be seen with a smile on his face. He never let anyone know he was struggling. He was a driven individual with many dreams and goals. George had interests in multiple business ideas; barbershop, basketball coach, apparel, studios, etc. He wanted to give back to his family, especially his mother, and aunts for taking care of him. They were such a great influence on him. George wanted his family to be taken care of and have a good life.
George is survived by his mother Abok Garang Lual Deng of Calgary; father Phillip Santino Bol; maternal grandmother Achan Akot of Calgary; siblings Suzana Bol of Calgary, Akieg Bol of Calgary, Awag Bol of Toronto, Ontario, Achok Majou of Calgary, Achor Bol of Calgary; aunts Dina Deng of Calgary, Seselia Mabur of Calgary, Maria Bol of Calgary; uncle Yel Deng of Calgary; nephew Idris Bol of Calgary; niece Nevaeh of Calgary; cousins Akol, Deng of Calgary; and step siblings Migasto, Sabena of Khartoum, Sudan.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Pierson’s Funeral Service Ltd., 4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, 321 – 90 Avenue SE, Calgary.
Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, 1515 – 100 Street, Calgary.
