Florence "Flo" Hilda Starosta (née Hehr)

Florence "Flo" Hilda Starosta (née Hehr) (also known as Flo Boquist) passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2024 in Spokane Washington, USA at the age of 87 years.

Florence was born on the Hehr family farm near Crossfield, Alberta, to John and Hilda (née Shorr) Hehr. After her Mother's passing when she was only 10 days old, her stepmother Marie Hehr (née Ott) raised Florence as her own.

She married John Starosta on November 10, 1956 and resided in Dalroy, Alberta, where they farmed and raised their 5 children. Florence lived in Dalroy until the passing of her husband John on May 26, 1976. She re-located with her two sons to Loon Lake, Washington, USA when she married Richard Boquist on April 10, 1982. As a child, Florence was involved with 4H and her church. She enjoyed spending time around the cattle and farming life but often mentioned how she didn't like riding behind her brother on the horse to school. In her adult life, she was one of the founding members of the Dalroy Ladies Club and ran the post office out of her home in Dalroy for a brief time. She was an avid gardener and worked side by side with her husband John bringing in the year's grain crops. Florence enjoyed socializing, playing cards, crib and liked being in the outdoors.

She will always be remembered for her great sense of humour, her resiliency

and the love and kindness given to those around her.

She will be dearly missed.

Florence is survived by her children, Mary Anne (Bruce) Cairns of Dalroy, Alberta, Carol (Eric) Toovey of Calgary Alberta, Doug Starosta and Steven (Ellen) Starosta of Spokane, Washington, USA; sister, Ruth Berreth of Strathmore, Alberta; her grandchildren, Josh (Christy) Huybregts, Ryan Tikk, Matthew Cairns, Gina (Cory) Neumann, Katie Cairns, Ethan (Meghan) Starosta, Nathan Starosta, Brittany (Kyle) Krahn, Brandt (Cynthia) Starosta; and her 15 great-grandchildren. Florence was predeceased by her husband, John Starosta; daughter, Joy Huybregts; granddaughter, Megan Goett; second husband, Richard Boquist; siblings, Roy Hehr, Freda (Harnack) Tillman, Irene Beddoes, Mervin Hehr, Stan Hehr, Bill Hepper and Ruth Klassen.

The family wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to all the staff at Aspen Quality Care in Spokane, Washington, USA for their devoted, loving care of Florence over the past few years as well as Providence Sacred Heart Hospital for the care and comfort they provided during her last days.
