Fitsum Yared Tekleab

Fitsum Yared Tekleab passed away on June 6, 2026 in Calgary at the age of 52. He was born on April 10, 1974, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Fitsum is survived by his beloved children, Kirubell, Haran, and Divora Yared, all of Calgary, as well as Helen Yared of Montreal and Amen Yared. He was a proud grandfather to Ethan Asimwe, who will carry his legacy forward with love and honor. He is also survived by his parents, Yared Tekleab and Mebrat Araya; and siblings, Million Tekleab, Bogale Tekleab, Yordanos Tekleab, Muna Yared & Werkenhe Yared Tekleab. He's predeceased by one of his brothers, Matusala Tekleab. Extended family members Elijah Yared, Jemal Ali, Jemil Ali, Charisma Yared, Jacob Yared, Habtemariam Tekie, Tsion Tekie, Marina Tekie, Barok Tekie, Hamere Tekie carry his memory in their hearts as well.

Visitation will take place at Pierson's Funeral Service (4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Thursday June 11 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm

The Funeral Service for Fitsum will be the next day, Friday June 12 at St. Micheal's Eritrean Orthodox Church (235 - 8 St NE, Calgary, AB) starting at 8:00am.

Graveside Service will be after the funeral ceremony at Rocky View Garden Cemetery (243208 Garden Rd, Calgary, AB)

Reception will be at Marlborough Park Community Association (6021 Madigan Drive NE, Calgary) after the graveside.
