Ferdinando Farina

FARINA, Ferdinando April 13, 1921 – October 22, 2013 Ferdinando Farina passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Foothills Medical Centre surrounded by his family at the age of 92 years. He will be dearly missed by his wife Rita Farina; their three daughters Rose Lamoureux (Dennis) of Chestermere, Fiorella Kissinger (Bryon) and Carmen Farina, all of Calgary; six grandchildren: Candice Moseley (Todd) and their children Paige & Brooklynn, Catrine Deano (Ron) and their children Cordelia, Mateya, Caralee Lamoureux, all of Chestermere, Erica Kissinger, Paul Kissinger and Adam Kissinger, all of Calgary; a nephew Adriano Samori of Calgary; and a large extended family. Ferdinando was predeceased by his parents Vittoria and Aristodemo, and three siblings Pio, Dolores and Rosina. Ferdinando was born and raised in San’tagata Sul Santerno, Ravenna, Italy. As a young man, he served in the Italian Military during WWII and then worked as a Mechanic & Carpenter. He married his sweetheart Rita and began raising their family, emigrating to Calgary in 1958. He immediately began working with the City of Calgary in the Waterworks Department retiring in 1986. Ferdinando enjoyed gardening, his greenhouse, carpentry, wine making, cooking family recipes and playing cards. He was a good provider to his family and gracious to everyone around him. He will be dearly missed. A special thank you to Foothills Unit 61 and Brentwood Care Centre staff. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel, 4121 – 17 Avenue SE on Monday, October 28 at 8:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 29 at 10:30 am at Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 1714 – 14 Avenue NE with Father Shibu Kallarakkal Presiding. Cremation will follow.
