Evelyn Almeda Root

Evelyn Root, daughter of the late Richie & Gertrude Fraser, passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the age of 87 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Donna (Dale) Dietrich, Mayne (Rose Lynn) Root and Dan (Deana) Root; grandchildren Donna (Ian) Stafford, Lisa Stewart, Tina (Doug) Hornberger, Becky (Jeff) Walker, Mandy Root, David (Marysol) Root and Kalsey Root; great grandchildren Phillip (Chelseigh), Taylor, Alexis, Kristian, Kyle, Elizabeth, Emily, Brookley, Kayla, Kyara and Alexa; great great grandchildren Jersey and Saigleigh; brother Bill (Linda) Fraser; sister-in-laws Bertha Soderquist, Audrey McDougal and Joan Fraser; numerous nieces and nephews and many more family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jasper in 2003; sisters Betty Greene, Henrietta Ensign, Deanna O’Connor and Heather Love; brothers Cliff Fraser and Henry Fraser; and grandson Dory Dietrich. Evelyn was born and raised in Carmangay, AB. In 1947 she met and married the love of her life Jasper Root. They farmed in Carmangay, Cowley and Travers. They eventually moved to Calgary for Jasper to be a mechanic and made it their home for many years. In 1997 they moved to Lethbridge and in 2003 Jasper passed away. Evelyn loved to fish and was always very lucky at catching. Her family was her greatest love and she will be greatly missed by all of her children, grandchildren and extended family and friends. A Funeral Service will be held for Evelyn at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Lethbridge Stake Center (2410 – 28 Street S, Lethbridge) on Monday, December 14, 2015 at 1:30 pm.
