Evean Miller passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022, at the age of 75 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Robert Spence (Rema); niece, Natasha Harley; nephew, Tyrell Spence; grandnephew, Kamari Breary; aunt, Rhoda Stephenson; cousins: Basil Powell, Wesley Thomas, Dorothy Mckenzie, Donald Davis, Ruth Shaw, Paul Robinson, Elizabeth Thomas, Florence Robinson, Esther Davis, Joyce Pigotte, Donald Craig, Terrance James, and their extended families; a large church family; and numerous friends. Evean was predeceased by her mother, Ruth Wynter; stepfather, George Wynter; aunties: Alice Kenlock-Walker, Adlin Robinson and cousin, Lloyd Mckenzie.
Evean was born and raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica. She moved to Canada with her family during her early adult years and made Calgary her home. Evean had a very kind soul and loved to serve others. She was an active member of the Bridgeland Seventh-day Adventist Church and served in different capacities over the years as Greeter, Deaconess and Choir member. She volunteered at the Village Square Public Library, Daycare, and former Van Ministry. She also spent some time working as a nurse’s aide at Cedars Villa Nursing Home, at Wendy’s restaurant, and at the North Hill Mall Food Court. Evean was a regular student at Vercova (formerly known as VRRI). She collected memorabilia of The House of Windsor and well-known celebrities. Evean loved children and for many years she donated to her sponsor Child. She always gave generously to various charities including The United Way, Heart and Stroke Foundation, and Calgary Bridgeland Seventh-day Adventist Church. Evean will always be remembered for her bright and smiling face that blessed the lives of those around her.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Evean at the Bridgeland Seventh-day Adventist Church, (48 – 12 Street EN, Calgary) on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 11:30 am. Viewing starts at 10:00am followed by an Interment at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery immediately after the 11:30 am service.
