Eunice was born in 1937 in Meadow Lake, SK. She was the youngest of six children to David and Katherina (Esau) Froese, and was raised on the family farm near Compass, SK. Having previously farmed in the Rush Lake area in the 1930’s, Eunice’s family returned to Swift Current in the early 1950’s. It was here that Eunice attended Swift Current Bible Institute from 1953-1954. In 1958 Eunice was diagnosed with tuberculosis, which required her to spend time at Fort San in the Qu’Appelle valley, which was a difficult time for her.

In 1961 she married Peter Knelson and together they raised five children in Swift Current, SK. This kept her busy along with participating in a church quartet and various volunteering roles.

In the 1980’s Eunice moved to Saskatoon, SK and later Calgary, AB where she decided to further her education. This gave her the opportunity to be employed in various roles as an administrative assistant; as well as in property management.

Eunice had a very strong work ethic and continued to help and support her children through her retirement years. She played a mean scrabble game, made fantastic crepes, loved her grandchildren, and spent much time with her sister Doris, with whom she was very connected.

In 2019, Eunice was diagnosed with dementia and moved into the Mayfair Care Center in Calgary, AB where she spent her final years. Please consider donations to the Alzheimer’s society of Canada (
