Erma Maxine Taylor passed away on January 23, 2026, at Carewest Sarcee. Born on July 8, 1934, in Grand Valley, Ontario, Erma lived a life filled with varied experiences and close connections.
Throughout her career, Erma held many roles, showcasing her diverse talents and unwavering dedication. She served as a Registered Nurse, where her compassion and expertise provided comfort to many during their times of need. In addition to her nursing career, she also worked as a cook and as security personnel with Gardaworld Security, demonstrating her adaptability and willingness to contribute wherever needed.
Erma was more than just her professional accomplishments; she was the heart of her family and friends. Known for being "everyone's grandma," her warm personality drew many to her, making her a beloved figure in the lives of her children and community.
Erma was the proud mother of Harry (Sylvia), Verna (Jack), Barkley (Betty), Carmen (Ron), Ruth, and Christopher. She was also a devoted mother-in-law to Betty and treasured by more than 20 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and a few great-great-grandchildren. Her family was her joy, and the bonds she cultivated with them were central to her life.
Outside of her family obligations, Erma had a passion for nature and gardening, finding solace and beauty in the natural world around her. She also enjoyed painting, often inspired by beloved television figures such as Bob Ross. She also loved watching Bob Barker and the Price is Right. Erma had a deep love for animals and cherished her time spent with friends, creating lasting memories that would be treasured by those who knew her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Cecil and Rita Hill; husband, Don Taylor; previous husband, Russell Jelly; and son, Richard.
A Memorial Gathering to honor Erma will be held on February 4, 2026, at Pierson's Funeral Services (4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Loved ones are invited to come together to celebrate the remarkable life of a woman whose warmth, strength, and spirit will never be forgotten.
