Elsie May Henry (née Chrest)

Elsie May Henry (née Chrest) passed away at her home on Tuesday December 2, 2025 at the age of 95 years.

Elsie was born in Niagara Falls, New York to Roy & Elizabeth Chrest. The Chrest family moved to Canada when Elsie was a young girl.

Elsie is survived by her five children, Harry (Marsha) Shave, Elaine Schlinker, Doug Shave, Mark (Ruby) Shave & John Henry; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews & grand-nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Robert 'Bob' Henry (2024); sons, John Shave (1990), Gary Shave (2010), daughter-in-law, Marlene Shave (2023), son-in-law, Ken Schlinker (2020); grandson, John Schlinker (2024); and nephew, Walter Eldridge, (2024).

Elsie was a wonderful and devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt & sister. She loved her family with all her heart. She possessed a very strong Christian faith and lived her life for her Lord & Saviour.

Elsie's family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Dr. Anyanwu at Agecare Bowcrest Manor. They are grateful to all the caregivers, nurses and staff on 1 West for their compassionate care of Elsie. The staff always made sure family was kept informed, answered all questions and were overall a great support.

Donations may be made in Elsie's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation & Centre Street Church.

A Celebration of Elsie's Life will take place at a later date.
