Eleanor Bowry, 90, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025. Born on November 8, 1934, in Carriacou, Grenada, Eleanor lived a long and full life marked by resilience, compassion, and deep devotion to her family and faith.
Eleanor built her career as a dedicated nursing assistant, caring for others with the same warmth and fairness she brought to every aspect of her life. She devoted many years to volunteering and was a faithful member of her church community, where she found comfort, purpose, and connection.
Known for her sassy wit, sharp mind, caring heart, and firm but fair nature, Eleanor touched countless lives. She had a love for gardening, traveling, crocheting, and reading-simple joys that reflected her creative spirit and curiosity about the world.
Eleanor is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Raymond Bowry; her cherished daughter, Judy Prime; grandson, Brandon (Roeann); and three great-grandchildren, Cale, Isaiah & Juliann all of Calgary; siblings, Magnolia Jarrett of London, UK, Vera Patrice of Carriacou, Grenada, Pauline Francis of Brooklyn, NY and Michael Prime of London, UK; numerous nieces and nephews residing in British Columbia, the UK, New York and Grenada. She will be remembered not only for her kindness and strength but also for the laughter and stories that brightened every gathering.
Eleanor’s family and friends take solace in the legacy she leaves behind-one of love, service, and unwavering grace. We will miss your laughter and stories that entertained us throughout the years.
A Funeral Service will be held for Eleanor at Pierson's Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 1:00pm.
