Eileen Ella Swan

Eileen Swan passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the age of 65 years due to complications brought on by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). She will be dearly missed by her four children Dinsmore Swan (Allyson) of Strathmore, AB, Alberta Siermachesky (Keith) of Melfort, SK, Dallas Swan (Elizah) of Roma, Australia and Donella Swan of Calgary; seven grandchildren Tygan, Delaney, Caitlin, Devon, Ashya, Kahly and Kateryna; two great-grandchildren Vanessa and Macy; a brother Neil Roszell (June) of Vernon, BC; and sister Leona Kinequon (Gary) of Regina, SK; and many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Don Swan; grandson Luke Siermachesky; her parents Percy and Winnifred Roszell; in-laws Ron and Ruth Swan; brothers Melvin Roszell, Denzil Roszell and Wendell Roszell; sister’s in law Kathy Swan and Margy Schetterer and brother-in-law John Swan.
Eileen was born in Lestock, SK. She was raised on a farm near Punnichy, SK. She began her education at the Perryville schoolhouse and graduated high school in Punnichy. Following high school, Eileen moved to Watrous, SK for a period of time to live with her brother Wendell and his wife Sherry. It was there where she met her husband Don, and they moved to Calgary, AB to begin their life together. They later moved south of Strathmore, AB to continue farming and raising their family.
For over 40 years, Eileen worked for Alberta Health Services. She was an active member of the community and the Bow River Alliance Church congregation in Carseland, AB. Her smile, gentle words of wisdom and kindness towards others will be dearly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held for Eileen at the Carseland Community Hall (330 Railway Ave, Carseland, AB) on Wednesday, November 1 at 11:00 a.m. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Bow River Alliance Church, and in following Eileen’s example may you consider your journey of faith, whatever that may look like.
