Dylan Jessica Marie Hardy-Camenzind

June 28, 1991 — April 17, 2022

On Sunday, April 17, 2022 Dylan Jessica Marie Hardy-Camenzind, beloved wife of Jason Rousseau of Calgary, Alberta, passed away at the age of 30 years.

Dylan came into the world two weeks late, as she was waiting for her Daddy. From the first day, Dylan had a presence one thousand times bigger than she ever was. Dylan was a jokester who loved to make people laugh. Dylan lived life with everything she had. In the early years she was spoiled by both sets of grandparents. In fact her Grandma gave her fifty dollars for the first tooth she lost, telling her that the tooth fairy called grandma to say she forgot to give her the money.

Dylan was very determined to be great at everything she ever did, whether it was learning to walk at eight and a half months old, or learning to tie her shoes before she was four.

Dylan had a smile that could make you smile, and she always followed up with a goofy face. When Dylan told her mother that she was going to be a grandma, she texted her a picture of an ultrasound. Verla was confused as to why Dylan would send that. After zooming in and Verla realized it was Dylan’s ultrasound, Verla screamed in the McDonald’s drive thru, scaring Verla’s sister, Kaia and the poor kid taking orders.

When Dylan was young, she met a girl who would turn out to be her better half. Tamara and Dylan were a force to be reckoned with. They were two peas in a pod, causing trouble and making people laugh since the beginning.

Dylan was the best big sister to Lyndsey, Briana, Kaia, and Robbie. Dylan looked up to her big sister Elizabeth. Dylan was the backbone of those kids and was fiercely protective of those she deeply loved. She had a lot of friends while growing up but few kept very close. Dylan was the best auntie to Faith and Emma, and an even better Mommy to our little miracle, Karson.

When Dylan and Jason met, they both believed it was fate. Jason started community service at East Calgary Twin Arenas which was a place he choose due to his love for hockey. When Jason completed his 4 months of community service, the boss offered Jason a job opportunity as a Zamboni driver, which Jason accepted.

Over the course of working there Jason always spoke with Tamara who was Dylan’s best friend. They both worked in the lounge there. Dylan was always too shy to talk with Jason.

After Jason’s second year working at the arena, Tamara told Jason, Dylan really likes you. Shortly after, Dylan asked Jason out on a date. Dylan and Jason knew immediately that they were meant for each other. They kept their relationship hidden from everyone so they could just enjoy getting to know one another, this lasted for about 3 months. Dylan and Jason made their relationship official on December 13, 2017, they both believed that 13 was their lucky number. At Christmas time, which was Dylan’s favourite holiday, she went to Grande Prairie for Christmas to spend time with family. Dylan and Jason talked every day for at least 3-4 hours, that is when they became inseparable. Shortly after Dylan got back from her trip Jason moved in with Dylan. In the spring of 2018, Dylan and Jason moved into their home in Dover Cliff. During their first year dating, the pair visited every museum in Calgary together.

As Dylan and Jason started growing in their home, they went on their first vacation together to Vancouver to visit Dylan’s aunts, Angie and Monica. They also went to Seattle together to see the Funko pop store, as anyone that knows them, knew they had a HUGE obsession with collecting Funko pops. They had rooms full of them in their home.

The following year, Dylan told Jason that she was 3 months late. They went to the store and purchased 3 different types of pregnancy tests… ALL 3 CAME BACK POSITIVE. They proceeded to Dylan’s family doctors for confirmation and sure enough, little Karson was conceived on February 13, 2020 and his due date was November 13, 2020. When Dylan and Jason went to Banff for a hike, they noticed something was off with Dylan. One week later, with the help of her cousin Lizzie, Dylan went to the Foothills hospital to get herself checked out. Next thing you knew, Karson Cam Rousseau was being born two days later on July 31, 2020 at 24 weeks. They knew Karson was a miracle from that moment on and he is a mini version of Dylan. It was a very long journey for the both of them being at the hospital every day for 4 months, and not a single day was missed. They were most excited when Karson could finally come home with them on November 30, 2020, just in time for Christmas.

Dylan, Jason, and Karson now all became inseparable from this moment on. In the short time Dylan had with Karson, she was a devoted mother who loved him unconditionally and always wanted things to be perfect for Karson because Dylan and Jason were both very particular. They had a vision and it needed to be exactly what they envisioned, especially for Karson’s first birthday.

The next chapter of their lives together, Jason planned on proposing to Dylan on a beach. That was always her dream and with Covid he was unable to make it happen, he waited because he wanted it to be just perfect because she was the perfect woman for him. He wanted nothing more than to make Dylan his wife and they were planning on purchasing their first forever home together this year, 2022.

Dylan was Jason’s best friend, soulmate, the love of Jason’s life and better half. He will forever remind their son of what an amazing person she was and he will forever see her in him. Dylan will always live on through him and as she always said.. “In a true love story, there never an ending <3”

Besides her loving husband Jason, she will be lovingly remembered by her son Karson Cam Rousseau; mother Verla Hardy; step mother Nancy Bechelli Carmenzind; siblings Lyndsey, Briana, Kaia, Elizabeth (Antonio, Isabella), Robbie; best friend Tamara Dover (Kenny, Faith); Auntie Angie and Uncle Wayne of Vancouver, British Columbia, Auntie Monica and Uncle Mike of Grande Prairie, Alberta, Auntie Cindy of Calgary, Auntie Lamie of Siksika, Alberta; cousin Chris (Amy and Sebastian); and many other cousins, relatives, and friends, there are too many to mention.

Dylan is also survived by Jason’s family who opened their arms lovingly to her, Gwendolyn (Scott), Crystal (Emma), Josh, Cheyanne (Omeed), Frank (Joanna), Grandma Doris, and Franky.

Dylan is predeceased by her father Rob Camenzind; grandparents Violet Hardy and Joseph Verschoore, Bob Camenzind and Margaret Camenzind, Grampa Francois, Great Gramma and Grandpa; aunts Nada and Ellen; uncles Michael, Charles (aka Honey), John, and Wayne.
