It is with profound sadness that we remember and honour the life of a remarkable young man who passed away far too soon. Dontay Raheen Willis-Carvery passed away on Monday, October 19, 2026, in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 34 years.
Though his time with us was much too short, he leaves behind memories filled with laughter, love, music, and the joy he brought to those who knew him.
From a young age, he embraced life with enthusiasm, enjoying riding his bike, dancing, and singing. As he grew older, his passion for music and dancing remained a defining part of who he was. He was also a talented cook who took pride in preparing delicious meals and followed a vegan lifestyle that reflected his personal choices and values.
Those who knew him will remember his wonderful sense of humour, his love of joking around, and his ability to find positivity in life. He loved to laugh and share that laughter with others, often bringing a smile to the faces of those around him. Beneath his playful nature was a genuinely loving and caring person whose warmth and kindness made a lasting impression.
Professionally, he dedicated the past five years to Indigo Parking, where his hard work and commitment were recently recognized with a promotion to National Manager. This achievement was a meaningful milestone in his career, reflecting the progress he had made and the bright future that lay ahead of him.
Alongside his loving parents, Oriole and Blenn Carvery, Dontay will be remembered by his large family. When Dontay was only 4 years old his older brother, Blenn Lydell Willis, passed away after a brief illness at the age of 16. As Dontay grew, other siblings joined the family including, Shaline, Vantina, Shalimar, and Marquice. Along with an extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins, he will be missed by his grandmother, Clara Downey-Willis; cherished niece, Kalia; nephew, King; godmother, Judith Stone of Halifax; and two best friends, Shalene Doucette and Kaylah Wilton. He was predeceased by his brother Blenn (1996); grandparents, James Willis, and Edward and Bernadine Carvery.
Though his life was far too short, the love he gave, the laughter he inspired, and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and never forgotten.
