It is with incredibly heavy hearts that the family of Desir Pauliuk announce her sudden, traumatic passing on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the age of 51 years, near Bowden, Alberta. Desir is survived by her adoring children, Trevor Pauliuk of Calgary, Hope Pauliuk (Brady Hobberstad) of Okotoks, and Ethan Shanahan of Calgary; her loving brother Mark Michalovsky of Rocky Mountain House; as well as her many dear friends. Sadly, Desir was predeceased by her parents Ann Michalovsky and Loren Michalovsky.
Desir was an amazing woman with an incredible heart. She was a long time employee of the Calgary Stampede and the Calgary Flames, but for her, the most important job she had was being a mother to Trevor, Hope and Ethan. Her motherly instinct didn’t stop with her children either, Desir would always have her door open to kids in need, changing the lives of many youth. Along with children, she also loved to see her garden flourish, using her photography skills to capture every moment. Desir was generous and compassionate, witty and hard working, and had such a zest for life. The imprint she has left on people’s hearts will never be filled; Desir will be greatly missed by all those that had the absolute pleasure of knowing her.
A Celebration of Desir’s Life will be held at the Calgary Marlborough Community Association (636 Marlborough Way NE, Calgary) on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously request that donations be made to the Calgary SPCA (4455 110th AVE SE, Calgary, Alberta T2C 2T7, www.calgaryhumane.ca) and/or Stars Air Ambulance (1441 Aviation Park NE, Box 570, Calgary, Alberta T2E 8M7, www.stars.ca/ab).
