Davina Rider, of Mînî Thnî, AB, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the age of 45 years.
With heavy hearts, we announce that our loving Davina has been called home by the Creator. Davina grew up in Eden Valley & Mînî Thnî and was raised by her grandparents. She attended Morley Community School and completed courses at Lethbridge College as an adult. She loved to ride horses and competed in pow wows in Canada & the USA as a jingle dress dancer. She was an excellent beader, regalia designer, and seamstress. She worked as a chef at the old Chiniki restaurant and was a great cook. Davina was a fluent Îyethka speaker and was raised with traditional values. She was handy around the home, enjoyed listening to music, and was a kind caregiver. We remember Davina as caring, funny, honest, and hard-working. Davina was the happiest when she became a mother & grandma. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Davina is survived by her daughters Daisy and Patricia “Cakes”, and her precious granddaughter River Song. Her grandmother Gwen Ryder, aunties Delphine Rider, Lenora Crawler, Lorna Bearspaw, Rose Marie Smith, uncles Sam, Joe, and Wayne Wesley. Numerous nieces, nephews, & children she helped to care for. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives & friends. Relations from Eden Valley, Tsuut’ina, and Mini Thni. We apologize if we have missed anyone.
Davina was predeceased by her mother Patricia “Choosie” Rider and father David Wesley, sister Kelsie Rider, and brother Davis Holloway. Grandparents Lou Crawler Sr., John Lefthand Sr., and Mary Jane Wesley. Uncles Morris, Clarence and Chester “Chet” Rider, Lou Jr. and Frank Crawler, and Vern Wesley.
