David Campbell Day

Apr 11, 1957 — Jun 3, 2026

Calgary, Alberta

David Campbell Day passed away in his sleep at home June 3, 2026, at the age of 69. He is survived by his brother Leslie and daughter in law Liane, and their children Cameron (Kathleen), Craig (Bevy) and their son Colson.

David was born in Calgary in 1957 and lived his whole life there. He attended Brentwood Elementary School, Senator Patrick Burns Junior High School and William Aberhart High School then proceeded to the University of Calgary. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1980 but never got to use his training, except on his little brother. A temporary job with the City of Calgary took him in a completely different direction. Dave had joined the computer cartography department which was just beginning to convert all the city’s maps from paper to digital and he participated in the evolution of that field for most of his 37 years of service.

Dave, his brother and cousins made many great memories at the family farm north of Hanna. We all got to “help” with feeding the cows, ploughing the fields and swatting flies. This is where his ashes will be spread, amoungst the memories.

In Dave’s younger years he enjoyed hiking and travelling. When at home he frequented the Ship and Anchor, that is, when he wasn’t reading or adding to his movie collection. Dave retired in 2017 after his health deteriorated and made a new home at Westview Community. Many thanks to the wonderful Westview folks for the fun and support that the staff and neighbours provided.
