Darlene Fay Coleman

Jan 18, 1948 — Jul 28, 2026

Calgary, Alberta

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Darlene Fay Coleman, lovingly known as Deenie, who left this world on July 28, 2026, in Calgary, Alberta—her beginning and final home. Born on January 18, 1948 in Calgary, the family moved shortly after and she spent her formative years just outside Airdrie, enjoying all the trials and turbulations of farm life. It was here that sibling bonds were made stronger as they were known for causing just a little bit of havoc while completing necessary farm chores. After the farm was sold, the family moved to Airdrie where Deenie met many new friends at the local school, conveniently just across the street from home, allowing her parents, Edna and Victor to keep a watchful eye. Darlene excelled in sports. Her competitive nature and willingness to excel, won her female athlete of the year.

Throughout the successes of her life, none brought her greater joy than being a mother. Deenie married Doug and gave birth to Danny and Debra. A few years later, love came again and Deenie met Gerry. They then grew their family and welcomed Brad. After Gerry's passing, she met her common law husband Gord.  Gord introduced Deenie to the world of motorbikes. They would spend many evenings and weekends on the Harley cruising the streets of Calgary, highways and biways of Canada and the USA. Travels often led them to their favourite destinations, Sturgis and Yuma. Deenie wasn't a fan of the cold Canadian winters, so her and Gord grew wings and became snowbirds during the winter months.

Deenie's journey was interwoven with the stories, milestones, and deep-rooted love of family and friends.

Throughout her 78 years, Deenie was a source of unwavering strength, kindness, and compassion until she succumbed to illness. It never deterred her or kept her down and the family are grateful she's now resting peacefully. She touched the lives of all who knew her with the warmth of her spirit and the generosity of her heart. Her laughter, wisdom, and gentle courage will echo lovingly in the hearts of her family and friends.

Deenie was the beloved daughter of Victor and Edna Gross, both of whom passed before her. She is also reuniting with her daughter, Debra, her grand daughter Shealynn and her brothers Jerry and Murray and his wife Colleen, who passed years prior.

Dennie is deeply mourned by her sisters Judy Single, Cheryl Moen, Linda Strickland, and her sister-in-law Glendys Gross, as well as her brothers Randy Gross, Sonny Gross, Tim Gross, and her fur baby Gunner. Their shared moments—those of joy, support, and endurance—now live as treasured memories that will never fade.

Though her passing leaves sadness, her memory will forever be held close by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest peacefully, surrounded by the love she so willingly gave.

We have love in our hearts.

She will be truly missed.
