Daniel Ernest Louis Coquet, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at Agape Hospice in Calgary on January 17, 2024 at the age of 77. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 53 years Linda Jean (Johnson), sons Rene Chad and Scott Marcel (Lauren), grandchildren Jayden and Desiree, brothers Pierre G. and Marcel (Irene), nephews Gilbert (Jill), Marc (Kim) and niece Jackie (Don) Depper as well as aunts, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Marguerite (Rocher) Coquet and father, Pierre Joseph Coquet as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dan was raised in St. Brieux, Sask. and loved fishing, nature, country music and animals, and as a young boy adopted a baby badger, naming him "Grumpy". He could pet him and walk him on a leash just like a dog! In 1970 Dan married Linda and together with family, enjoyed many years camping at McLean Creek and Sandy McNabb, playing Wizard, bean bags, ladder golf and Scrabble. Over the years, Dan and Linda had budgies, cats and dogs, but Dan's favorite was a beautiful Sheltie named Shadow. Dan was gentle with animals and could pet bumble bees without getting stung!
Dan worked in warehouses and drove delivery trucks within Calgary until retirement. He loved watching the Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadians and Toronto Blue Jays and reading Westerns using his e-reader whenever he could. Dan was also a talented handyman who never liked to ask for help, but could figure out how to fix almost anything. He was a kind, dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather whose family meant everything to him! We will miss him forever.
Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service for Dan will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Pierson's Funeral Home and Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery.
