Craig Ashley Hayes was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and moved to Calgary with his family when he was just two months old. He grew up in the community of Haysboro, where he spent much of his time with his sister, Lori, who was not only his sibling but also his best friend. During his school years, Craig formed many friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Craig attended Mount Royal College, where he earned his Landman diploma and went on to build a career in the oil and gas industry. In his younger years, he was known for his competitive spirit and was often the feisty one while playing broomball with his close group of friends.
Craig met the love of his life, Grace, and quickly fell in love not only with her but also with her son, Jason. Together they built a beautiful family and later welcomed daughters Ashley and Courtney. Craig always put family first and had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcome and at home.
He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed traveling, especially vacations to Coeur d’Alene, a place that held many special memories for him. Through his work in the oil and gas industry, Craig was proud to build the family’s dream home in Woodbine.
Craig will be remembered for his great sense of humour and his endless supply of classic “dad jokes.” He was incredibly knowledgeable and could seemingly finish any crossword puzzle put in front of him. He was also a lover of movies, games, and spending time with those he cared about most.
He is survived by his wife, Grace, his son Jason Hayes, daughter Ashley (Andrew) Connell and their children Logan, Lincoln and Sloane, daughter Courtney (Dan) Blodgett and their children Ellie and Rylee. He is lovingly remembered by his sister Lori (Craig) Carleton and a large extended family.
He will be welcomed into the embrace of Robert and Glenna Hayes who passed before him.
Craig’s warmth, humour, and devotion to his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
