Clement "Solgie" Alphanso Williams

Sep 13, 1944 — Oct 7, 2026

Calgary, Alberta

Clement Alphanso Williams (also known as "Keith" and "Solgie") passed away at on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at his home in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 82.

"Solgie" was born in Lluidas Vale, St. Catherine, Jamaica, to his loving parents, Alphaeus and Josephine. One of seven children, with two sisters and four brothers, Solgie grew up surrounded by family and the values of hard work.

In 1975, Solgie immigrated to Canada, first settling in Toronto, where a new chapter of his life began. It was there that he met the beautiful woman who would become his lifelong partner, Rosemarree. The two met in 1976, married in 1984, beginning a love story that spanned 51 years. Their marriage was built on love and companionship, and Solgie loved and adored his wife deeply.

A hardworking and dedicated man, Solgie built a long and respected career as a welder with GBM Trailer, where he worked from 1979 until his retirement in 2013. His strong work ethic and commitment were evident in all that he did. Beyond his career, Solgie was also an entrepreneur. He owned a racehorse and a restaurant fondly remembered by some as “Chick-a-Doodle-Doo,” leaving his mark in ways that reached beyond the workplace.

Although Solgie was a quiet and humble man, he possessed a natural charm, a warm personality, and a lovely smile that could brighten a room. He was caring, understanding, and he valued the friendships he formed throughout his life. He enjoyed the company of others and was a proud member of a Dominos Club in Calgary, where he regularly enjoyed a competitive game.

Sports held a special place in Solgie’s heart, with cricket being his first love. His passion for the game began in Jamaica, where playing cricket was an important part of his life. That love of sports remained a meaningful connection to his roots and the memories of the life he had known before coming to Canada.

Above all, Solgie worked hard to provide for those he loved and took great pride in his children and grandchildren. His love for them was immeasurable, and they remained among his greatest blessings.

Solgie also leaves behind a wide circle of friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, quiet strength, and gentle charm. He may not always have been the loudest person in the room, but his presence, his smile, and the relationships he nurtured made him someone to remember. As family and friends reflect on Solgie’s life, they will remember a man who worked hard, loved deeply, remained humble, and found joy in the people and passions that mattered most. His journey from Jamaica to Canada was one of perseverance, dedication, and love—a life enriched by family, friendship, and the enduring partnership he shared with Rosemarree.

Along with his wife Rosemarree Williams (née Parchment), Solgie will be lovingly remembered by his children, Jeniffer, Jean, Joan, Paula Calvin, Michelle, Cara and Sophia; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Monica Brookes; brother, Aszette. He was predeceased by his parents, Josephine and Alphaeus; brothers, Fitz Williams, Linton Williams, Herman Williams; sister, Sonia Davies; many extended family and friends in both Jamaica and Canada.
