Chantel Renee Blake, born on May 2, 1984, in Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary on February 28, 2026. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many children whose lives she touched throughout her career.
Chantel was passionate about working with children and dedicated her professional life to ensuring their well-being. She excelled as a childcare worker, where her nurturing spirit and kind heart made a significant impact in the lives of many families. Additionally, she devoted her time and energy to the children's choir and children's ministry at her church. Her efforts were not only a job but a calling, showcasing her love for the younger generation.
A proud alumna of the University of Calgary, Chantel graduated in 2011, equipping herself with the skills and knowledge to pursue her passion. In 2024, she returned to academia to pursue a Master's degree in Counseling. Her education helped shape her approach towards nurturing and guidance.
Chantel's name derives from the French word "chanté" meaning "to sing." This beautiful connection to music reflected her creative spirit, as she found joy in singing and sharing melodies with loved ones.
She is survived by her devoted husband Ken, with whom she shared more than 16 wonderful years. Together, they nurtured a loving family, raising three beautiful children: Isabella "The First Born", Myla "The Miracle Child", and Alexander " The Surprise". She also leaves behind her father, Delroy Ferrel (Gillian); and siblings, Fitzroy 'Teddy', Michelle, Nicole, Raymore, Delano, Jasmine, Noreen, Tristan & Sheldon; step-sibling Natasha along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will remember her warmth and kindness.
Chantel was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Yvonne Ferrel; and brother, DJ. As her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in reflecting on the love, laughter, and memories she provided during her time with them.
As we remember Chantel Renee Blake, we celebrate a life full of compassion, dedication, and love. Her legacy will continue to resonate through the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Funeral Service for Chantel will take place at Showers of Blessing Apostolic Church (3915 34 St NE, Calgary) on Thursday March 19, 2026 at 10:00am.
Graveside Interment will follow at Rockyview Garden of Peace Cemetery (243208 Garden Rd, Calgary).
