Carol Anne Thompson

August 2, 1939 — February 9, 2021

Carol was born on August 2nd, 1939 and was raised in Calgary, Alberta. She was the eldest of five; Joanne, Gerry and Beverly, predeceased by infant sister, Shirley; husband, Russell; grandson, Russell and parents, Katherine and Henry along with numerous extended family.

Carol attended Bridgeland Elementary, Langevin Junior High and graduated from Crescent Heights High School. After high school, she went on to pursue her career in accounting having completed the first year CGA program and took many courses in shorthand excelling in her studies. She took great pride in her work and was valued at every job she held and often held positions of great responsibility. She worked for various employers including United Grain Growers, Simpson Sears, followed by Trojan Investments, Kenting Ltd., GN Transportation, Kari Kristi Management, Hooks Transport, Beaumont Glassware and finally Custom Gourmet Coffee. In her younger years, Carol was musically inclined and learned how to play the ukulele, guitar, accordion, organ and recorder. She enjoyed playing softball, baseball, bowling, hiking, camping, playing cards, horse racing, VLT’s and in later years had a great love for football. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel having visited Hawaii, Disneyland, Arizona, Nevada and more recently Nova Scotia, PEI and New Brunswick.

She is survived by her daughter, Karina (Ed) Erhardt; grandchildren, Joshua and Olivia Erhardt; sisters, Joanne Phillips and Beverly Sinclair; brother, Gerry Heddinger; nieces, Yvonne Phillips, Carla (Matt) Carrico; nephews, Wayne (Lisa) Heddinger and Dave Heddinger and numerous extended family.

Mom’s witty sense of humor always kept us on our toes. She lived life on her own terms and did the things that made her happy. She lived her life with no regrets. If you gained Mom’s trust and love you had a friend for life. We will miss your huggie bears Mom and your love. Rest well Mom, we are so proud of you!

A Public Visitation will be held for Carol on Wednesday, February 17th and Thursday, February 18th at Pierson’s Funeral Service (4121, 17th Ave SE.) from 7:00pm-9:000pm. A Private Funeral Service will be held for Carol at Calgary Church of Christ (4030 Maryvale Dr. NE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 12:00 pm. Graveside service to follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace (243208 Garden Rd, Rocky View County, AB). Due to the COVID- 19 Pandemic, the funeral service is limited to 20 guests but all family and friends are invited to join either by the YouTube link provided or the Zoom Link below.
