Carl James Clarence Whan

On Sunday, May 29, 2022 Mr. Carl James Clarence Whan of Calgary, Alberta, passed away at the age of 79 years.
Carl was born in Camden, Ontario. He was the eldest of four children. He was close to family including the in laws and was always welcoming, warm, and gave the biggest hugs. Carl married Marilyn in 1965 and together they had three children. In 1978 Carl moved to Calgary to be closer to his brother. He started truck driving in 1978. Carl had a passion for hot rod and classic cars. He enjoyed attending car shows, and playing late night card games with his friends. Yuker was his card game which would be loud with laughter and sounds, along with slamming hard on the kitchen table with the winning card. In 1999, Carl fought off throat cancer. He retired as a truck driver, and he lived with his daughter Trish and Corey since 2019.
Carl is survived by his children Julie Whan of Moncton, New Brunswick, Trisha Whan (Corey Martin) of Calgary, Travis Whan of Calgary, Alberta; one grandchild Katlyn Louise Whan of Moncton, New Brunswick; his siblings Allen and Joyce Whan of Calgary, Joyce Allan of Claresholm, Alberta, Sandra Brook Of Kemptville, Ontario; nephew Ashley Whan; nieces Jennifer, Kim, Kylie, Tracey, and Natalie.
Carl is predeceased by his wife Marilyn Whan (2019), and his parents Delorine and Clarence Whan.
A celebration of life for Carl will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from Pierson’s Funeral Service, 4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary, Alberta. Cremation has taken place.
