Brian Gordon Keddie

August 22, 1943 — September 27, 2020

Brian passed away peacefully at home, with family by his side, on September 27th 2020 at the age of 77. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years – Thelma, their 3 children, spouses and families. He is also survived by his brothers, Bob (Connie) Keddie and Wade (Lynda) Stewart; sister-in-law, Karen Keddie; brother-in-law, Bill (Chris) Rustad and several nieces and nephews. Brian was predeceased by his brother Donald Keddie in 2003 and cousin Dennis Galvin in 2017.

Born and raised in Inglewood; he was a true Calgarian. He spent hours of his childhood playing in Pierce Estate Park and at the Bird Sanctuary – two places he visited often even in his last months of life. Brian started his career working at the Banff Spring’s Hotel after graduating from SAIT culinary school. Over time he became a Manager at Woodward’s Restaurant and for 15 years prior to retirement he was the General Manager at Pizza Hut. He was known for his dedication and hard work.

Brian was a voracious reader – one rarely ever found him without a book – even while walking down to get the mail! Jeopardy was his other favorite pastime and in our eyes he was always a champion. Playing cards, going to the hot springs, chocolate and ice cream sundaes brought him so much joy.

He loved history and to travel. He was especially passionate about his Scottish ancestry and this took him and Thelma many times to Scotland and England. It was in these travels that he connected with distant relatives creating bonds and treasured friendships that still continue today.

He had the best smile – he was kind, generous and loved to laugh.

Dad – you are forever in our hearts.

A private family cremation will take place Friday October 2nd and a celebration of life will be planned for family and friends in August 2021 due to Covid-19 restrictions at this time.

Thank you to Dr. Cran, Susan and Janice with Palliative Home Care, and to the team at Tom Baker Cancer Center.

And a special thank you to all our family and friends for the incredible support and love you have given us through this difficult time.
